There's not just one way to brew coffee: Here are the protocols we use in our cafes so that you can brew like Phoenix Coffee at home.
- Start with cold, filtered water. Bring your water to a rolling boil and then remove from heat - wait 30 seconds before brewing to let the water temperature drop to 205 degrees. Ideal brewing temperature for coffee is between 195-205 degrees.
- Use freshly-roasted coffee. Phoenix Coffee roasts every day - our cafes always have fresh coffee in stock. We recommend that you only buy the coffee that you will need for that week to ensure that you are always brewing using fresh coffee.
- Invest in a quality grinder such as those made by Baratza. A high-quality burr grinder will help ensure even extraction, giving you the best possible cup.
Soon, this page will feature videos, illustrations and how-to descriptions for brewing coffee like we do at our cafes and in the lab. French press, pourover, siphon, aeropress, espresso... whatever you're hoping to see here, let us know! Shoot us a tweet @phoenixcoffeeco.
