Red 5 de Diciembre : Mexico

$19.00

Formed on December 5th, 2014, the Red 5 de Diciembre producer organization formed in response to a particularly brutal year of leaf rust (La Roya) destroyed much of the region’s annual crop yield, Red 5 de Diciembre formed as a organization to provide harvest, processing, and marketing support for approximately 1400 smallholder farmers. This coffee was roasted a pinch darker (“medium-light roast” for lack of a better term) that you may expect from past Phoenix offerings, though it still features the hallmarks of a nuanced and deliberate single origin coffee. Expect a soft, full bodied sweetness remeniscent of dried dates, a very mild acidity with hints of stonefruit and lemon, and a long, clean walnut finish.

Grown and processed with organic methods at 1750 masl. Traceable to 1420 smallholders.
